The Wizard’s Cauldron facilities are located in the Piedmont area of North
Carolina in the town of Yanceyville. The company has been manufacturing
organic products of very high quality for the natural and organic food
trade for over 15 years, including two years at the current location.
The company pioneered organic processing for sauces, dressings and condiments.
The Wizard’s Cauldron specializes in private brand organic products. Primary
product lines are organic pourable or spoonable dressings (fresh and shelf-stable),
sauces, condiments, and marinades. The Wizard’s Cauldron counts some of
the top companies in the natural foods channel as its active and satisfied
customer base.
The Wizard’s Cauldron plant encompasses approximately 40,000 square feet
including offices, manufacturing area, receiving, shipping, and storage.
Additional acreage in the rural industrial park is available, if needed,
to expand to another 40,000 square feet as the growing volume of business
may dictate.
The modern, stainless steel production facility is QAI certified as a
manufacturer of organic products and maintains high standards for food
safety including active and accurate HACCP, sanitation and recall policies.
The company has well articulated procedures. The company is cutting edge
in technology. The plant and facilities have consistently received high
marks on audits from their customers for plant operations.
Two automated manufacturing lines provide hot-fill and cold-fill capabilities
in glass or PET containers ranging from 5.0 fluid ounces to 32.0 fluid
ounces. In addition, filling operations handle the 64 oz., 128 oz., and
5-gallon bulk sizes for various food service applications. A portion-cup
filling line provides portion-pack cups for organic sauces, dressings
and marinades in 1 to 4 fluid ounce cups with peel-back heat induction
foil tops.
Processing utilizes a variety of mixing capabilities including sweep blade
as well as high-sheer capability to produce the exact emulsions needed
for a variety of applications. The filler on a second line can handle
particulates of up to 3/8”. Two small kettles, three large kettles, and
one 1,500 gallon holding tank anchor the processing end of the production
area. Batch sizes can be as little as 200 gallons at a time, all the way
up to more than 700 gallons in each of the two larger kettles ... to almost
continuous processing with the use of the 1,500 gallon holding tank.
Each line batching operation is monitored continuously for time, temperature,
weight of ingredients and other critical data under strict guidelines.
The labeling stations following the two separate fillers (one on each
line) allow for a wide range of label applications (wrap around, front
and back, front only, spot, etc.). Each line employs an in-line metal
detector and each critical point is monitored by our line personnel for
continuous quality checks. Automated packing equipment completes the line
and the tail-off is manually completed by stacking and shrink-wrapping
the finished goods onto grade A, GMA pallets. Total plant capacity on
two shifts exceeds 2.7 million cases annually and is currently operating
well under that capacity.
A
filler level indicator, and a UPC code scanner, along with meal detection
equipment assist us in full time monitoring of quality, finished goods.
Innovative R&D is the hallmark of The Wizard’s Cauldron team. The team
has satisfied the tastes and needs of some of the most critical and
discerning companies and “foodies” in the industry. The process is initiated
by listening to the customers’ needs and then providing those customers
with not only their exact needs, but also options that may expand their
thinking and marketing strategies.
